Psilodump at Myspace

Right! So now the Return of the Snabelnauts release is streamable on Myspace ! Also, the design got a bit of a boost. I haven’t been paying that much attention to my myspace page for some time, so I thought now would be the time to do a makeover!

In a couple of weeks I’m putting out the next digital release, also on 476 Digital, entitled Hidden Trains of Pippuri ! I hope both releases are/will be well received.

I’ve been quite sceptical towards this digital distribution crap in the past, but now that I’m giving it a go for real, I’m actually quite pleased with it :)

I don’t have any sales numbers or anything at this point, so I’m not sure if the release is doing well or not. But then again, maybe it’s not that interesting nor important. I just hope people are able to enjoy the music, and that the digital stores are not a complete pain in the ass. xD

I must admit, I don’t have much reference or experience on the subject myself, since I’m no longer a big music shopper, and don’t usually have time to listen new music ‘:O

But don’t worry, even though digital distribution is upheld being the future, there is still some physical Psilodump releases coming up! The big one is a new CD release on Demon Tea, coming out as soon as I manage to finish it! This time, it’s a 3 disc one! And I’m sure, if you are and/or have been a big fan of my music, this is a release you most definetly will appreciate! More details will be revealed towards the time of the release ;)

In other news, the fancy official Psilodump fanpage on Facebook now has a million fans! I guess this would be the best source for updates on Psilodump stuff, for now. Also, there is a The X-Dump fanpage available now.

I bet there is other news to talk about, but right now there is something else I need to attend to ´: )

Good morning. In case some of you have Spotify, and have stumbled upon this Psilodump track called “Saturnus”, please recognize that it’s not made by me. It’s a remix by Per Hammar, released by Eltronic Fusion Records.

Let me explain: When approached by Per, requesting an OK for a label to release his remix, I said “no” - simply, because I just didn’t like it.

Later on, curiously, the label released it anyways, which made me completely furious! I swiftly jumped out the window, without even opening it first, meanly chased a badger with a fly swatter, climbed up in a carefully selected tree in total fury and rage, and from the tree top I shouted, loud but not incontrovertibly clear: “DOO NOOT WANT!”. This is all true.

But then, the label said “oh sorry”. And I said “naaw, forget about it – could happend to anyone”, and ate dinner. They said: “Hey! Don’t cry – we give you millions of $$$”. I said: “well, considerably correct amount, for very yes!”. So for a brief but glorious moment in time, I thought I had won, and that all my troubles would finally be long gone. But….. I failed.

The remix came back to haunt me – only this time, credited as if it was made by me!!! On Spotify!!!

A pretty weird thing… I was up pretty late (early) this morning;

So I went to bed, turned off the light and tried to sleep. I have three quilts which which together are relatively heavy. So I was switching positions back and forth, until I found a good spot, on my stomach, facing right.

All the sudden, the bed started shaking, and there was a squeaking noise from it, and it felt as if someone was in the room, pushing and pulling the bed back and forth. So I turned on the lights and had a look. Nothing there. I watched under the bed. Nothing there. I thought maybe I had dropped something, like one of the quilts. I hadn’t… :O hooo maybe was boogiemaaan

I tried to shake the bed myself, to see if it had somehow broke or something. But the bed did not rock like it did before, and it wouldn’t make that sound. And it would impossibly be able to create the noises from the rest of the room. So I stopped for a moment to hear if there was any noises from my neighbours.

So I touched the floor and though… “what if it was aaaan…. earthquake?! “ I decided to jump out of bed, go to my computer, and check if there was any reports of minor earthquakes or something. I failed! I found nothing. Tried google and wikipedia and everything. I checked the time and it was about 6:32 AM… No reason mentioning the shakes to anyone, I thought to myself, and went back to bed…

I woke up at 9:15 again, went to my computer, only to find out that there had been the biggest earthquake in Sweden since 1904, with a magnitude of 4,7 in the Richter scale, occurring 06:20 AM!!! AAAAAARGH!!!!!!

But even now, checking all this reporting, it obvious that the epicenter was in fact in Scania. That is pretty far away from me. About 500km (310 miles). So far, I haven’t heard anyone, in the Stockholm area, claiming they felt it. So if my bed in fact was shaken by some earthquake in Scania, I cannot tell. Maybe it was my bed shaking Scania ?

So last Sunday, I made this tune, right, which initially was just a sketch I was playing around with. I didn’t really know if the track was a good enough one to bother start making a real arrangement of, so in order to see how it would sort of eventually sound like, and to get more familiar with it, I did a preview mixdown and some mastering to it.

While I was listening to it on repeat over and over again, Matophonia and I were fooling around with emoticons, on Live Messenger. We ended up with Mato doing this hilarious combination of emoticons, where one (which I created) contained Matophonia with a horse mask, one (which Mato created) a soldier pouring a cup of STFU on his own face, together with these waving smiley-arms and two pairs of some creatures legs, galloping.

Now, I was still listening to my preview-track and all the sudden it strook me how perfectly (in a bizarre way) it fitted together with the emoticon-constellation, which inspired me to capture the moment and make a video out of the whole mess.

Starting out with just a black background with the creature just running forth, from the distance, past the screen, I started adding more and more elements, utilizing sonogram readings from some of the elements from the music and such. The result was… something pretty fancy, yet fairly weird, as you may see for yourself xD

so – I haven’t been posting here since :O !
Right now I’m back working on the album again, after some time of inactivity. I have moved to a new apparment, and have finally set up some preliminary setup, to be able to work on some music :) So far, I’ve made one new tune for the album, and just a few minutes ago I was working on the final version of one of the album tracks, but the software keeps crashing when I do my small edits, which doesn’t necessarily piss me off, but rather puts me off and makes me feel like doing something else. Like reinstalling WinD’OHS!!!

There is so much to be done, and I can’t remember even half of it!

I will be DJ’ing at Microdisko now on Saturday. It’s going to be rather fun. The thing I like about DJ’ing, is that I can play other people’s track, rather than my own, which I’m normally used to. And especially when DJ’ing at Microdisko; I can play pretty much whatever I want! :D you know, like alltime favourites or whatever :) It’s going to be fun, I bet.

The front page of SMK’s homepage doesn’t look too good with the gigs like that :( I need to change the gigs list further to the right, and I have been reminded a few times now by Joni and Hannes, but I just haven’t got around doing it, due to lack of time and/or memory. Phew… ;S

So I met Jütas (from Bethy Ethodd) about three months ago. I hadn’t talked with him for years, and he told me to contact him on Facebook. FACEBOOK?! So I joined the site, and it was rather awful, stiff and somehow hard to figure out. Anyways, I had never heard of the site, but now all newspapers are hyping it. Like whoa facebook this and facebook that. Aaargh. And all the sudden I find all kinds of people I know showing up there. How come every time you hear some beginner guitarist trying to play Smoke on the Water on an electric guitar, they never ever follow the beat ??? I have my window open, and some bozo is playing all sorts of rock classics, and it sounds terrible. Especially Smoke on the Water! Has this kid ever even heard the tune or is some old rocker just telling him which notes to play in completely random tempo? Sound almost like when my dad plays it on the guitar. (whops, no offense, dad, we have already discussed it… ehm ;)) …maybe those who lack the keep-the-beat-gene also possess the I-want-to-play-the-rock-guitar-for-sure-gene

About a week ago I did a live-set at Birdie 17. I was very satisfied with the music I had picked, which I played for about 1 h 30 minutes, and afterwards I had a clear conscience about it. I hope everybody liked it :P I hope to be getting some video footage from the performace. I have just a few photos so far. :)

There was this girl at Birdie 17 who wanted my underwear in exchange for letting me sit inbetween her and Artee in an inflatable sofa, while Paza was performing on stage!!! How rude! We had a big debate and she even got physical about it, trying to drag me towards the restrooms! She told me not to be such wuss about it, but I told her “hey! I’m entitled to be a wuss! I’m Psilodump!” That’s like a wuss-certificate.

But I did tell her that I’d probably regret me not giving her my underwear.

Since Birdie 17, I’ve been lazy. I haven’t done much (as far as I can remember). Yesterday I met my exgirlfriend. I hadn’t seen her since December 2006 or something, and it was actually pleasent to meet her again, despite our history. Even though, I noticed it being a rather unusual sensation to be able to see but not touch. Not in any painfully tragic or particularly desperate sense, but rather more in some weird amusing sense ;) Like, gee wow! Been there, Done that! 8D Imagine that! =) yum… oh well, she has moved on and so have I, so there’s not much else to that, other than it’s funny observing ones habitual hormones in action at times ;P haha

Btw, I’m totally into these new episodical Sam & Max adventure games!!! Amazing stuff :D But more about that at some other time ;) Now I’ll try doing something useful :)

hehehe… I did this design for Paza Rahm‘s forthcoming netlabel release “Amigo EP” yesterday. The release itself will be released on The X-Dump Netlabel on Monday (May 7th) I think. I think the final version really hit the spot, cause now when I have my mind of other stuff and then come back and see the cover again it just totally makes me laugh ;D hahaha damn

I got the idea for this one after working on the covers and kinda coming up with these really crappy ones, giving up and going to bed. I couldn’t sleep and I was thinking about all sorts of things, when I all the sudden had it in front of me. Not this sort of finished idea but the mood and some details to build upon, almost when making music. So yesterday I just went on and put together the pieces and it just happened in a extremly lucky non-stop creative flow. I love it when that happends!

I saw Spiderman 3 the other night! I realized just a few hours before going that I would be needing glasses or contacts in order to see anything at the movie theatre, and my glasses were stolen last week. So I dug through some stuff and eventually found 4 lenses for my right eye and ONE for my left one! I had previously thought that I only had the 3 useless right eye lenses left, but I now stand corrected!! Yeehaaw..! So I saw the movie and I thought it was great :)

No progress on the album, which worries me alot and makes me stressed out and depressed. Tonight and last night I was(/am) up doing a quick remaster of my “Washed” release, which I will be uploading on jamendo.com. I’ve got some reviews on the stuff that I have up already, which is nice, I guess :D The original 2004 release of “Washed” sounds rather crappy in it’s original mastering, and I think the new mastering will provide it a bit more justice. I won’t be including the remixes from the original release, cause it’s not only more mastering work but I also feel that they are kinda out-of-date and not that on-topic anymore, now 3 years later.

Moving on to something completely different; many people have messaged me asking what is wrong with my Myspace page, if it’s been haxXxorEd or something. The profile has in fact been trashed by myself, cause I’m tired of this kind of shallow self-promotional bullshit which kinda manifests these expressions of sickness in this attention-seeking culture of narcissism. Getting a myspace page was, at first, a joke for me. But since so many people were watching and it’s so easy to promote oneself, it becomes weird after a while. You tend to get addicted to the attention and it soon becomes obvious that getting the attention is more important than the substance. So I feel like the line between the joke and the actual reality of it somehow got blurred, to a point where it’s not funny anymore, and where my philosophy and relation to certain matters become invalid and untrustworthy.

I mean, how can I, at the same time, claim that I don’t care about attention and don’t see a connection between me as a person and my music, when I go around promoting myself in this way. It makes me sick. Horrible bullshit shit. Shitty shit-ass shitzorz. So I say fux it. When I’m done with my website I’m totally going to trash and abuse my myspace page even more, and never point my domain there again.

Soon I will try getting the new The X-Dump design up and going, as well.

I think it looks pretty neat. But it’s not really finished. Then starts the php/mysql coding of it, which is the big work thingy. My vision of it is to keep it a bit clean, in some ironical sense, and allow people to log in to post comments on the news stuff. Also, I’m trying to avoid trying to stuff in as much stuff as possible, and instead divide the different parts into separate mini-sites. I think it will be better for everyone and it’s going to be easier to find the info one is after.

Also, this summer we are planning on putting out some The X-Dump CD’s. There are two full-length CDs (by Paza and Anode) practically done, and I’m talking to Dorothy’s Magic Bag about putting together a full-length album of his. Lithis and Matophonia would be up next, but it’s not as easy for them to just put together albums like that, it seems. But we will figure something out for sure ;) As for myself, I have the Demon Tea album still to finish, and after that I will probably be doing an album for a Spanish label. ´;Q argh

Candy Mind (http://www.candymind.com/) is dead, as many of you may or may not have heard. I can’t remember if I already told about it on this blog, but it’s a fact. I think the guys (Dorothy’s and Liquid Stranger) did a great job these 3 (?) years and I understand and fully support their decision to kill the netlabel.

Oh well, it’s 6 am now and I better go to sleep :P

Whops, a german friend of mine noticed that blog.psilodump.com was not pointing here anymore ;P leux – welp, not it’s fixed and I haven’t gone to sleep yet. Totally or rather not incidentally I woke up 8 pm today….. um yesterday.

All I remember from last night was, before going to sleep, I was recording some half minute audio clips for my forthcoming tunes archive on the forthcoming psilodump.se page. Err, I sure do have better and more important things to do and deadlines to meet, like to finish the damn album and get it out……. buuut one should be allowed to do things for fun at 4 am in the morning ;P

They somehow puzzle/fascinate me. Ok, not in some narcissistic sense, since I still don’t connect music to individuals, but rather that is makes me think where music ultimately comes from. I mean, when I listen to these tunes, there is a certain sobriety and technical organization to them. Ehm, hard to explain somehow, but my current impression of these tunes don’t go well together with……. gaah FUXK IT… nevermind ;D haha – all I know, or well, DON’T know is how these tunes got this way, for like 10 years ago. 10 years ago!!! … hmm and my point is somehow………. that there is something I don’t get ;D

oh well, I should go to bed now, since today I need to do some stuff ;´( stuff sucks! booo ooo!!! or well, one of the things included in today’s stuff is going to see Spiderman 3 so it’s not all that bad :P iiih iiiiiih!!!

I remember that I thought the first (new) Spiderman movie was great, the second one I have totall forgotten and/or repressed.
