Psilodump at Myspace

Right! So now the Return of the Snabelnauts release is streamable on Myspace ! Also, the design got a bit of a boost. I haven’t been paying that much attention to my myspace page for some time, so I thought now would be the time to do a makeover!

In a couple of weeks I’m putting out the next digital release, also on 476 Digital, entitled Hidden Trains of Pippuri ! I hope both releases are/will be well received.

I’ve been quite sceptical towards this digital distribution crap in the past, but now that I’m giving it a go for real, I’m actually quite pleased with it :)

I don’t have any sales numbers or anything at this point, so I’m not sure if the release is doing well or not. But then again, maybe it’s not that interesting nor important. I just hope people are able to enjoy the music, and that the digital stores are not a complete pain in the ass. xD

I must admit, I don’t have much reference or experience on the subject myself, since I’m no longer a big music shopper, and don’t usually have time to listen new music ‘:O

But don’t worry, even though digital distribution is upheld being the future, there is still some physical Psilodump releases coming up! The big one is a new CD release on Demon Tea, coming out as soon as I manage to finish it! This time, it’s a 3 disc one! And I’m sure, if you are and/or have been a big fan of my music, this is a release you most definetly will appreciate! More details will be revealed towards the time of the release ;)

In other news, the fancy official Psilodump fanpage on Facebook now has a million fans! I guess this would be the best source for updates on Psilodump stuff, for now. Also, there is a The X-Dump fanpage available now.

I bet there is other news to talk about, but right now there is something else I need to attend to ´: )

I hate silly titles such as “The Nya Albumet”, but the tracks that make up Psilodump’s double CD feel, if not perfect throughout, then in any case clearly uplifting and energetic. Behind the name Psilodump hides Simon Rahm, a guy who way back in 2001 released his first EP. It ended up on the Swiss label Domizil which dabbles in experimental electronic music. Then there were records on Swedish labels Sound of Habib and Q-Records, but this time it’s Australian label Demon Tea’s turn. Rahm has also managed to remix Kraftwerk as well as Slagsmålsklubben, while also playing live at raves, clubs and festivals, both in Sweden and abroad. The Nya Albumet features a mix of all kinds of modern, synthey and often danceable music with quite the groove, but which also occasionally confuses. Sometimes reminiscent of The Prodigy, sometimes it’s breakbeat, at other times big beat, sometimes more puristic techno, and at other times an experimental but always rhythmic mishmash of God-knows-what, with even some video game fiddlery sparkling in the midst of it all. What is especially fun with this album, apart from the heavy weaving between genres and the ecstatically pumping pressure that often arises, is that the album is both danceable and home listening friendly at the same time. This kind of music can become damn repetitive and boring, but Psilodump has the ability to keep me focused during most of the journey, and that’s nothing to sneeze at.

Say whaaaat!? Sweden’s supposedly biggest music magazine, GROOVE, in their latest issue, actually gave “The Nya Albumet“ five out of five ‘G‘s !!!

Um, allow me to make an attempt towards a half-ass translation of some sort:

“It’s rare that such a worked-through Swedish
double album manifests itself – especially one
filled with lovely breakcore, 8-bit electro,
drum’n'bass and any-other-genre-you-can-come
-up-with-techno at breakneck pace. Even the
calmer parts vibrate with restrained force.

Then, it’s full speed again. But it never gets
nasty nor difficult as so much breakcore
willingly gets, it’s fun music with a twinkle in
the eye. You never need to feel insecure even

Good morning. In case some of you have Spotify, and have stumbled upon this Psilodump track called “Saturnus”, please recognize that it’s not made by me. It’s a remix by Per Hammar, released by Eltronic Fusion Records.

Let me explain: When approached by Per, requesting an OK for a label to release his remix, I said “no” - simply, because I just didn’t like it.

Later on, curiously, the label released it anyways, which made me completely furious! I swiftly jumped out the window, without even opening it first, meanly chased a badger with a fly swatter, climbed up in a carefully selected tree in total fury and rage, and from the tree top I shouted, loud but not incontrovertibly clear: “DOO NOOT WANT!”. This is all true.

But then, the label said “oh sorry”. And I said “naaw, forget about it – could happend to anyone”, and ate dinner. They said: “Hey! Don’t cry – we give you millions of $$$”. I said: “well, considerably correct amount, for very yes!”. So for a brief but glorious moment in time, I thought I had won, and that all my troubles would finally be long gone. But….. I failed.

The remix came back to haunt me – only this time, credited as if it was made by me!!! On Spotify!!!

So now you know my secret… impressed?

THIS horrible thing is back again! Currently investigating the mysterious disappearance of x-dump.com, psilodump.se, psilodump.com – and I might have some clues!!! I suspect all! AHA!!! eh… No worries, it will be sorted out sooner or later.

What has in fact happened? I for one know what I’ve finished the very same album, which I so arrogantly estimated to be released “later this year” on July 23th 2006!!! That was two years ago, and I must say that I’m very glad and thrilled about the album taking this long time to finish.
